It's safe to say that Star Wars fans collectively gasped in excitement when the Darksaber first debuted in The Mandalorian season one finale, wielded by none other than Moff Gideon (actor Giancarlo Esposito). Viewers were nonetheless left wondering how the Empire came to possess such a famous weapon after this announcement.
ORIGINS
The Darksaber
made its debut in the second season of The Clone Wars, an animated series that
takes place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. This
appearance occurred during an episode titled "The Mandalore Plot."
Pre Vizsla, the head of the Mandalorian terrorist group Death Watch, was the
owner of the weapon at the moment.
The Darksaber was created for the show with George Lucas'
assistance and was meant to compete with any lightsaber. It was decided by Dave
Filoni, a significant creative force, that it should be significant to the
Mandalorians as well.
This straightforward notion gave rise to Tarre Vizsla.
Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian ever admitted into the
Jedi Order, created the black-bladed lightsaber. House Vizsla kept using this
weapon as a sign of their authority over the Mandaloreans long after he had
passed away.
REBELS
The Star Wars Rebels television series, which is set after
THE MANDALORIAN
This completes the journey back to the beginning of the blog
pink lightsaber.
The weapon's first live-action appearance was in The
Mandalorian, which featured Moff Gideon as the new owner and openly waving the
weapon. Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff), however, was determined to retake it in
order to solidify her position as the ruler of Mandalore.
CLONE WARS
As previously stated, Pre Vizsla, an ancestor of Tarre
Vizsla, received the Darksaber. However, after Darth Maul defeated the head of
the Death Watch in one-on-one battle, the lightsaber ended up in his
possession. Maul would go on to employ the weapon for the rest of The Clone
Wars after assuming control of Mandalore.
